The department has laboratories fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipments. The laboratories are replicated to match the real time electrical environment for the students to learn and experiment on various controllers and electrical machines. This Laboratory introduces the fundamentals of electrical theory with emphasis on design and implementation of machines and electrical transducers. Students are provided with technical implementation and learn to trouble shoot the issues of classical control systems in the frequency domain and modern electrical systems in the state-space. Design and implementation of electrical and control system is analyzed using simulation tools like MATLAB software.
Electrical machines laboratory helps students to Performance analysis on various DC and AC machines in terms of their efficiency and regulations. Predetermination of losses on various DC and AC machines can be evaluated in this laboratory and starting of electrical machines are made familiar. Precautions and safety measures for starting and running the AC and DC machines are also be provided to students in this laboratory.
The lab is well furnished with equipments like AC and DC Servomotor, Position control system, Controller design kit, LVDT, Strain Gauge, Thermistors, Thermocouple and RTD kits. The lab provides the facility to analyze the stability of the system. The lab is also equipped with sufficient number of CROs, Digital storage oscilloscopes for studying different types of controllers like P, PI, PID thereby making it feasible in effective industrial implementation. Various kinds of compensators like LAG, LEAD and LAG-LEAD compensators are also experimented for compensation techniques. Special electrical machines like Stepper motor, servomotors are analyzed with experimental result verifications. Instruments for determining the unknown value of resistance, inductance and capacitance are learnt here in this laboratory. In this laboratory, Students are also made familiar with various types of transducers and learn to calibrate Errors in the electrical instruments.
Power electronic lab houses various kinds of single phase and three phase converters and inverters where students analyze these components on grid and load applications. Various power electronic devices and Switching characteristics are analyzed by students for measuring frequency of the so called devices and learn to experiment on DC Power stepping and switched mode power supply. AC and DC Regulators are experimented to analyze the basic electrical application and its working parameters.
