Fomra college Library

The library of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology, Chennai, is a powerhouse of knowledge and is situated in a separate building. With two floors and an area of 986 square meters, the air- conditioned library stocks a large volume of books and periodicals that are of immense value to the students. The collections of volumes cover a wide range of Engineering subjects and other related fields of study.

Acquisitions Section
The Acquisitions Section is responsible for the acquisition of all books and gift books. Acquisitions Section supports the Library’s staff in their efforts to acquire and maintain information resources for education.
Technical Section
Technical section classifies books, assigns call number for books, and prepares Book cards, data entry sheet, due slip, book card and spines.
Journal Section
Journal Section places all ongoing orders, including periodical/journal subscriptions, e-journal activities, standing orders, continuation orders, for all physical formats as well as the invoice processing for these orders. The section is responsible for the check in and claiming of all the titles we order, with the exception of journal issues, which are received and processed locally.
Circulation Section
Circulation section may be called as a lending section which deals with issue and return of books. Levying a fine for defaulters and fine collections, reservation of books for issue arecarried out in this section. The reminders for the defaulters to return the books are prepared periodically and sent to the department. Loss of books is dealt with this section.
Stack Section
There are four stack areas, one general stack, one periodical back volume stack, PG stack, Thesis stack and closed reference stack. Stack area staff members arrange the books in the shelves. The round label, date slip, book pocket, etc are pasted in the stack area whenever they found in loose condition or they found removed. They also provide assistance to the users to locate the books needed by the user in the stack
